Overview Print
The environment has become the key airport constraint, economic threat and political issue for the air transport industry.

The cost of ignoring the environmental impact of airport operations on climate change will endanger the future growth in aviation. Sustainable growth is a two-faced challenge of ensuring adequate environmental protection and delivering social and economic development.

Airports face several environmental constraints including noise, local air and water quality, climate change, waste management, and community relations. Traditionally, noise has been the key environmental constraint to airport development and the overlap between noise, climate change and air quality requires airports to address each environmental challenge in a comprehensive framework.
