ANOMS Replaces TAMIS at Port Columbus International Airport Print
17 Jan 2007

Lochard has completely replaced the Tamis system at Port Columbus with a new ANOMS system to provide the airport with the most up-to-date and effective airport noise monitoring technology available.

Port Columbus International Airport has completed final acceptance of a new ANOMS system. All noise monitors have been replaced with new Internet EMU monitors, a new STARS flight tracking gateway has been installed, and the system software has been changed to the latest release of Lochard's ANOMS and iView products. ANOMS has now replaced Tamis at San Francisco International and Port Columbus International airports.

We decided to replace the Tamis system because we wanted to work with a company that was committed to new R&D so that we would always have new and advanced applications for our noise programs. We chose Lochard because of their long term track record in providing quality systems, because they have the largest installed number of systems, and because of their large recurring investment in new products. We were particularly impressed with the new Internet EMU noise monitor. stated Bernie Meleski, Director of Airport Planning and Development.

The replacement was largely funded through the FAA Airport Improvement Program. Brown-Buntin Associates verified data accuracy and completeness as part of the acceptance testing.

Port Columbus staff have been impressed with the ease of use, especially the push button reporting, the integration with Microsoft Office, and the intuitive design. Lochard provides a wide range of support services including active monitoring of system status.

Port Columbus has also issued a purchase order for Lochard's WebTrak. WebTrak is an advanced public relations tool providing display of flight tracks, noise, and weather to the airport's local community. The ability for self-investigation of noise disturbances, complaint entry, reports display and noise contour overlays on the map are all features of WebTrak. WebTrak will be operational at Columbus early in 2007. WebTrak is already operating at several airports in the US with more coming.

We have been very please with the advantages of ANOMS over Tamis, and see WebTrak as the most advanced and interactive community noise application on the Internet. We look forward to further features in the years to come. stated Dave Clawson, Planning and Noise Specialist at CMH.
