Lochard to upgrade and operate the City’s Airport Noise Management Program through its NoiseOfficeTM Services.

The City of Chicago has awarded a 5-Year, $5.4M contract to Lochard Corporation to update and manage the City's airport noise management system. The contract includes a complete upgrade to the monitoring system for O'Hare and Midway International Airports including additional noise monitors to measure the impact of the O'Hare Modernization Project. Lochard will upgrade, support and operate the new monitoring system working with its partners Landrum and Brown and Barry Technologies.

The Chicago Airport System noise monitoring program supports a broad range of community initiatives including noise commissions at both O'Hare and Midway International Airports. The commissions play an important role in assessing and negotiating the noise impacts of flight operations on the neighboring communities around both airports. By improving both the monitoring system and its operation, the City will be better able to support the noise commission programs both current and future.

The City thoroughly investigated all of the offerings in the market via a Request for Proposal process, concluding that Lochard's technologies and services were clearly superior.

According to the Chicago Department of Aviation, having an updated, accurate and efficient monitoring system is essential to the success of its noise programs.  The Department recognizes the importance of accurately recording and reflecting changes in the noise environs as a result of operational modifications; and believes Lochard’s industry leading technologies and system management services will be an ideal fit.

Lochard will also manage operation of the noise office for 5 years through its managed services division which also operates monitoring systems at other airports, including the BAA's three London airports.

Lochard will completely upgrade the existing monitoring system and replace all the noise monitors with new Internet EMUTM monitors. This will greatly improve reliability and ensure that the noise data are beyond question. The Internet EMUTM is the only available noise monitor independently certified to meet all international airport noise monitoring standards.

"Lochard's NoiseOfficeTM operations services continue to expand as more and more airports recognize the need to supply credible, high quality environmental data on a continuing basis. The complete services solution suite will take the City of Chicago and its airport stakeholders into a sustainable future with a level of service second to none." stated Robert Brodecky, Vice President Lochard Corporation. "We are proud to be expanding our long-term relationship with the City of Chicago and its airports."
